Managing Higher Education for the Future


The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated many anticipated changes within the higher education industry under the shadow of the 5th industrial revolution, which emphasizes the harmonious interaction of human–machine collaborations. This involves a wide spectrum of issues which are likely to shape the new generation of higher education.

Following from IHEC 2022, this exciting physical Conference is a platform for senior leaders of universities from different parts of the globe to share contemporary issues on managing universities for the future and to allow respective business associates to explore opportunities on the future of the education industry. 

The Conference will be carried out in a more interactive manner by having key senior leaders sharing views and experiences in various roundtables on different topics of discussion.

Conference Chair's Message 

Warmest greetings and welcome to the 2nd International Higher Education Conference IHEC 2023 !

First and foremost, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Dr. Joseph Lee, Vice Chancellor of INTI International University for entrusting me as the Organizing Chair of the 2nd IHE Conference. We are deeply honored and grateful to all the distinguished Keynote and Panel Speakers and Moderators for their support in gracing this event.

In particular I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our advisor and ex-officio, Dr. Lai Yin Ling, Pro Vice Chancellor, for her invaluable advice and guidance in the past few months, as well as the effort and hard work of all the organizing committee members in ensuring the success of this conference along with the contributions made by our conference partners and sponsors.

IHEC 2023 has been carefully planned considering the challenges encountered by universities during the pandemic and its impending changes particularly in providing online courses and platforms in supporting student learning which have sparked numerous innovations within the educational field. Nevertheless, the measures adopted during the pandemic were not entirely effective in addressing underlying causes and issues faced within higher education. In this context, IHEC 2023 will provide a platform for senior academic management to share their experiences and views on best practices as well as  improvements and opportunities that can be explored to provide for future solutions.

Finally, on behalf of all the members of the Organizing Committee our deepest gratitude once again to all those who have contributed in making the 2nd IHEC 2023 a resounding success.

We wish all participants fruitful discussions and every success in this conference, and we hope you enjoy and benefit from your time with us.

Roundtables

Roundtable 1: Managing Universities for the Future 

This Roundtable will hear from Vice-Chancellors/Presidents/Rectors about their vision of university management for the future. Topics would include but are not limited to the future outlook of industry, the transformation needed, transition of management, resources and talents management. 



Round Table 2: Academic Management for the Future 

Academic operations and services management at the front line in the foresighted outlook have already witnessed a paradigm shift since the pandemic started three years ago mainly due to changes in the mindset of academic members and learners. This Roundtable will hear from the Deans and Directors, on how to manage the transitions on the ground towards the ‘Future’.  


Round Table 3: Global Collaboration for the Future  

Collaboration for the renewed future higher education industry is experiencing more exciting opportunities and has begun to more creative models. This Roundtable will consider insights and successes on new collaboration models, and innovation of collaborative ideas.
